ELZIE CRISTLER SEGAR (1894 - 1938)
Elzie Cristler SEGAR was projectionist, drummer, photographer before obtaining his diploma of cartoonist by correspondence ! In 1919, he create a comic-strip "Thimble Theatre" into which he introduces ten years later a one-eyed character of sailor named POPEYE. Success is striking down !
In 1938, rich and celebrates, the man who signed his strips with a cigar dies out prematurely in his house of Santa Monica, baptized "Segar Box".
